Final Layout (Ultiboard)

Final Layout (Ultiboard)

The ultiboard layout of the printed circuit board (PCB). The light blue outlines and writing are the silkscreen surface layer. Two copper layers were used for traces, top (green) and bottom (red). Contacts of each component are shown in dark blue. The outline of the board and holes through board are shown in yellow.

Hardware Schematic (Multisim)

Hardware Schematic (Multisim)

The green component represent the Arduino hardware. The other components can be found in the multisim libraries. All of the components except the Op-Amp will be converted to ultiboard to create a printed circuit board (PCB). The libraries of Op-Amp is not included in Multisim.

3D layout of our PCB

3D layout of our PCB

The 3D result of our Printed circuit board layout shows the relative sizes of components in 3D space. The largest objects (and therefore the primary drivers for board size) were the DC-DC converter, the Arduino Uno, and the 5 banana jacks that connect the circuit to external attachments. It’s possible to see the Copper Top traces between components. The final dimensions were 6.3”x4”x1.5”.

Phase 5

NI MultiSim

Multisim is a SPICE simulation environment, used to create a circuit board schematic of our pyroharvester circuit. It simulates actual components and contain libraries of components from leading manufacturers with each’s specific characteristics.

NI Ultiboard

Ultiboard is a printed circuit board (PCB) prototyping environment that takes two-dimensional schematic drawings from Multisim and converts them into two- and three- dimensional circuit layouts.  The PCB layout of our pyroharvester circuit is what we will send to manufacturers to create the physical board.
